The full moon on Saturday, May 5th, was the largest and brightest of 2012: a "Super Moon".
The moon was full at the the same time that its elliptical orbit brought it closest to earth ("perigee").
During a "Super Moon", the moon can appear to be 30% brighter and 14% larger than it does when it is farthest away from earth ("apogee").
Of course we had to get some pictures....
